Youth Leaders from Caritas Nyundo during the trainings


From 24th-27th February 2020, AKA Master Trainers supported CRS-Subs Youth Leadership Trainers in partnership with USAID/Huguka Dukore Akazi Kanoze. Youth Leaders from Caritas Nyundo from Intake 2 and Intake 3 received trainings on Youth Leadership. Each Intake will complete 4 trainings in total. Youth Leaders from Intake 1 have completed 3 trainings while those from Intake 3 have completed 1 training. Both Youth Leaders and Trainers appreciated the program and they adapted well.


The main purpose of these trainings were:

  • To build capacity of the Youth Leaders (YL)

  • Helping YL to reset their goals based on community realities

  • Youth Leaders supporting their colleagues throughout the journey to seek for jobs or wage employment guidance through the Work Based Learning program

November 21st 2019,  The Executive Director  of AKAZI KANOZE ACCESS, Mr Valence TWAGIZIHIRWE paid a curtesy visit to Implementing Partners CPJSP, Maarifa Africa and RODI. The main purpose of these visits was to build and maintain good relationship with AKA’s partners and to discuss on potential future collaborations.

What we learned:

  • CPJSP stands for “Centre de Promotion des Jeunes pour Sortir de la Pauvreté”, it started in 2007 and have worked on different projects with partners like AVSI, CEPGL, Women for Women International and EDC/USAI among others.

  • Maarifa (which means skills in Kiswahili) Africa is a company which was created in 2007 as Frontier Adventures. Their main program was Learn by Doing. They focused on outdoor activities, training clients on team building, communication skills, strategizing skills etc. As Maarifa Africa, they now focus on Transfering and designing knowledge.

  • RODI started in 2012 and have worked with partners like ICCO cooperation, SNV, International Alert, EDC, CARE etc…

Partners visited expressed the need to collaborate with AKAZI KANOZE ACCESS in various projects and agreed to have a framework Memorandum of Understanding to be signed soon.


Staff Genocide Commemoration

June 22nd, 2018

The Akazi Kanoze Access staff went to the Nyamata Genocide Memorial to pay our respects to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.  Afterwards, the staff provided support materials to surviving families in the nearby area.
